About me

I am Teaching Assistant at the Escuela Politécnica Superior (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) and PhD candidate at the Information Retrieval Group. My thesis topic is Diversity and Novelty in Recommender Systems, and I am also interested in other areas of Information Retrieval and Machine Learning. My supervisor is Professor Pablo Castells.

I have done several research visits and internships to some of the most prestigious research institutions in Academia and Industry: University of Glasgow, Telefónica Research, Yahoo! Labs.

In 2012 I got my Master’s Degree in Computer and Telecommunication Engineering with a Master’s Thesis called “Novelty and Diversity Enhancement and Evaluation in Recommender Systems” awarded with the MAVIR award 2012 for the best Master’s Thesis in Spain related to the interests topics of MAVIR consortium (Information Access and Language Technologies).

I obtained the Engineer Degree in Computer Science and the Licentiate Degree in Mathematics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2010. I also was an exchange student at Universität Bielefeld (North Rhine-Westfalia, Germany) during the 2009/2010 academic year.

My CV (updated September 2014).

I was born in Zaragoza (Aragón, Spain) some time ago. My parents are Carlos and María Pilar, and my sister is Sheila. I love watching TV series (Community, Warehouse 13, Game of Thrones, Homeland, Star Trek, Doctor Who) and, from time to time, reading good Sci-Fi or Fantasy books.

My mother tongue is Spanish and I also speak English and German. I am currently learning Korean and, if I had some free time, I would love learning Hebrew or Finnish.
